How I lost 9″ off my waist without doing any crunches (an update)

This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I’ve never been a “super-skinny” type of person. As most teenage girls usually do, I had a warped self-image of my body, and I always wished that I was smaller. (Looking back now, I can’t believe I wasn’t happy with my body then!)

Now at age (almost…ah!) 30, and after going through 2 full-term pregnancies and 2 miscarriages in the past 5 years, I am actually more comfortable in my body than I ever have been in my whole life.

A Little of My Story

My husband and I were blessed to welcome our second child into our family in January of this year. (Read our home birth story here.) Shortly before our daughters birth, I was introduced to Beth of Fit2B Studios and learned that I had a diastasis recti (which is basically a separation of my abdomen muscles). If you’ve ever been pregnant before, chances are you have the same thing. It’s a very common condition that isn’t talked about a lot in the mainstream health care scene.

I wrote a post in April of this year that told you how I had lost 5″ off of my waist by doing the exercises on Beth’s website. (Click here to read that post and to get more info about Diastasis Recti.) Since it’s been over 6 months since I wrote that post, I wanted to give you an update on how the exercises are working for me.

When I wrote that post in April, I had lost 5″ off my waist since giving birth in January. Since then, I have to admit that I haven’t been as faithful to do the exercises as I know I should be. BUT…I’ve still continued to lose inches. In fact I’ve lost 4 more inches since April for a total of 9 inches lost. This is with me doing the exercises 1-2 times per week, and my core feels stronger than it ever has!

To give you some specific numbers, here are my waist measurements from different dates throughout this year:

  • January 2013 – no idea, but “huge” is probably a pretty accurate measurement when I was 9 months preggo
  • February 2013 – 41 inches
  • April 2013 – 36 inches
  • November 2013 – 32 inches

Now, a 32-in waist measurement may seem big to you or it may seem small. But for my particular height and build, I feel very comfortable at that size. I still have room for improvement, but that’s one of my favorite things about Beth and Fit2B. Although there is room for improvement, the progress that has been made is something that she has taught me to be proud of! And to be comfortable with my body without it being perfect.

If you think you may have a Diastasis, I would really recommend checking out Fit2B. I can’t recommend it enough!
